Scotland manager Steve Clarke took issue with Argentinian referee Facundo Tello's decision to wave away penalty claims after Stuart Armstrong tumbled under a Willi Orban challenge in the 78th minute.

“It was 100% a penalty,” Clarke said. “Somebody, somewhere has to explain to me why that is not a penalty. It was, 100%.

The Scottish player went sideways and started to twist himself around the defender by drawing his arm around him and thought to himself it is easier to go down than try to score.

100% not a penalty. Armstrong had at least 3 seconds and a solid window to take the shot, instead, he jumped around and quite obviously looked for a penalty. The refs always say, and everyone should know this by now, that only clear fouls are given, that's not a clear foul, that's a player who waited and put his body in a position for there to be contact. Not a penalty.

Embarrassing and pathetic after that performance with 0.00 xG in a must win game.

Armstrong should have tried to get a foot on the ball as opposed to contorting himself around the defender like a pretzel plastic man. If it had gone in it wouldn't have been an issue and if it missed then perhaps a penalty would have been given. The lads knew they had to win and they produced zero shots in the first half.

In first half a Scottish defender hit Botka hard in the face. It wasn't a penalty either. So what are you talking about mister?
