10 August is when Ecuador celebrates the independence day.
This significant occasion marks the declaration of independence of Quito from Spanish colonial rule in 1809 and stands as Ecuador's National Day.
The territory was colonized by Spanish Empire during the 16th century, achieving independence in 1820 as part of Gran Colombia, from which it emerged as a sovereign state in 1830.

Ecuador is the third country whose flag has any shade of red, white, blue and/or yellow to celebrate its special day in August and the next one will be Chad.
