Plainfield Fire Department Chief Brent Anderson said the following about the fire:

Fire crews are worried they cannot sustain the amount of water needed to battle the warehouse fire.

Most employees had their belongings inside the building, and 12 agencies will stay on scene for several hours.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management is en route to monitor air quality at the distribution center.

Anderson said when firefighters got on scene the fire was inside the building, on a third floor level of the distribution center.

Crews have been pumping water for nearly three hours. Chief Anderson said they will have to cut back on water consumption.

Watch some of the videos of it. Two things stand out for me. As a truck driver that has been in these places, what happened to the sprinkler system? What happened to the firewalls? The drone video shows the fire spread to the entire building. Those buildings are sectioned off with thick fire rated walls.

Whoever was on the radio declaring fire under control, shut down riser pumps should be restricted to hydrant inspection only. Wait…probably better he just remain at the station and not go near anything related to fires or equipment.

I read it was a faulty AC unit on the 3rd floor mezzanine storing cardboard/gaylord boxes.
The local Firefighters reported yesterday that the building's sprinkler system was present and working, and after they determined the origin fire area was cleared by the sprinklers they had it shut off so it could free up the hydrants outside for them to use. This now in hindsight is being viewed as bad decision.

I go to Avon High School which is around a mile away from the fire and we thought it was a bomb when we saw it out of the window of our class. Some kids can’t go home because there neighborhoods are too close so they have to stay at school until further notice. My neighborhood is connected to one of the neighborhoods that can’t go home and i was gladly able to be sent home

I live in Plainfield. Walked out of Target and saw a huge black cloud in the sky. Was pretty crazy to just see it there happening right on the spot.

What about the ammunition inside of the building Walmart still does sell bullets fortunately if they're not in a gun they're not deadly unless you're standing on top of it

Just walked out of school in Avon and saw a mushroom cloud from a few miles away. Heard over 10 sirens past my school throughout the day. This is crazy.
