Paper Chromatography is the simplest and vastly used chromatographic technique. It has high capability of isolating organic and inorganic compounds. There are several ways of carrying out paper chromatography, they are:
1. Ascending chromatography
2. Descending chromatography
3. Radial chromatography
4. 2-dimensional chromatography (2D chromatography)
In paper chromatography, moisture in the pores of paper acts as a stationary phase. Organic solvent acts as the Mobiel Phase and paper itself acts as a supporting material. Whatch out the video for full details.
