I don't get the "snapping of the controller" gig you got going on. I mean I get that it's to show the poor quality, but people aren't gonna try snapping these controllers when they get one.
It's like buying a shirt and then trying to rip it apart. It does not really say anything about the console's performance.

There has to be some better test you can do. Like taking a controller and putting it in your dryer for a few hours? Simulate it falling on the ground a few times? :)

(PRO TIP: Do this AFTER testing the performance. You don't know if it was broken to begin with, or if you destroyed it. I'm guessing the latter.)

The Hell of it is, I would have LOVED to have this as a kid. I’d have thought it was the most amazing thing ever. But then, I’m from the GameBoy (OG) generation.

It's got a full color backlit screen, its got an expandable SD card slot, its got the external controller you intentionally broke, it costs 1/6th the price of what it's imitating... Why is this so much better than the original Playdate?

The Panic Playdate is probably one of the only newer consoles where the fake knockoffs have a color screen and the real legitimate device does not. I definitely do like the Playdate, but it needs to have a color display that is backlit, edge-lit, or self-lit (in the cases of display technologies such as OLED, AMOLED, and Direct View RGB LED), especially for it being 180$ in 2022. Games that want to use optional 1-Bit monochrome graphics (or something similar) for stylistic aesthetic design purposes obviously still could.

You're videos/reviews are normally fair but not this one? Why not actually give it a chance before slagging it off? Just joining the bandwagon of reviewers who make fun out of criticising 'Famiclones'. Not impressed.

I just went on Aliexpress and read the specs on this handheld. I just may be tempted a little to get the grey one with the white buttons. I'd use if for GBC, MD and NES and it also plays music / video files. I also like the overall sleek body design of this console and the low price is nice. It also comes with a nicer pair of headphones.

Never heard of the Playdate. Now that I have this seems way more interesting. $20 for an ultra portable nes/snes emulator beats $150 for a hipster Ouya any day of the week.

It’s not a fake unless you consider all these emulators to be fake. Also no one buy from the company that makes those clear acrylic emulators, they said they would send instructions on how to fix my faulty console but never did and ended up blocking me on Instagram. Totally ruined my love for emulators. Never trusting these kinds of companies anymore. I lost over 300 dollars
