Trying to show the glass catfish. I can't tell what is up with it. It looks frosted.

GLass catfish turn whiteish shade when they are sick or dying! Awesome tank though hope you dont lose any catfish!

Hi, how big is your tank and how many fish do you have in there and can you tell me how many fish I can have in a 46 Uk gallons tank.I want have:
1 angelfish
1 dwarf gourami 
1 red honey gourami 
1 ram
2 threadfin rainbow
2 female bettas
and other rainbow type fish with a lot of smaller fish. do you think this will be ok, if not can you tell what fish out of the bigger ones I listed I should have. Really looking for some help. Thank you by the way you are awesome and your videos are awesome too.

I bought one, knowing that I shouldn't have. But, He seems to be doing ok, I guess... I'm monitoring for any negative signs that he isn't.
What would you say are the GC's favorite food?
I've been feeding frozen Brine shrimp, and quality flake foods, but it seems to favor the frozen more. Then again, what fish wouldn't? Lol

Usually the fish are safe from these types of things if the mucus layer is good. Part of their immune system. Stress can be another factor to fish being prone to fungus or algae contamination. The excess amount of food that was dropped in tank causing mineral content to spike, and mass water change, the weaker of the fish may have been susceptible to an immune deficient, and allowing this thing to take dominion. There are many remedies to reverse fungus and parasite. Your pet store would know

Wow, didn't know that about salt, so much to consider. Even types of meds have concentrates of metals. Some are very harsh on snails and shrimp. Plus when medicating, the filter has to be off or carbon removed. May be easier to isolate him to be on the safe side. I definitely have the fever to get a tank. I was a the gulf and the sand, the foam, it reminded me of a tank. Lol. I said, this sand would look awesome in a tank. Haha

Looks like a fungus situation or a parasite algae, which both can come from water situations. These types of fungus have even been found to originate from frozen blood worms. It does not look like an injury. increasing the salt % in the tank can lead to healing, Salt usually works best as a preventive more than a remedy, but can eradicate some problems. but if this thing is something contagious, you may want to isolate him and try medicating him in his own environment. Just keep close eye on him

i got a glass catfish recently. can someone tell me if they get more aggressive as they get bigger or no because i do not want my baby pleco`s to get hurt

Glass cats that are turning white are sick and gonna die soon. I haven't figured out what it is yet. Columnaris or ick. I suspect ick. Can't find any professional writings on them. I think this because the chain pet stores don't treat for ick and they always seem to have it in their tanks. The next time I find some of these fish, I'm gonna buy just the white ones and treat them for ick in a quarantine tank. Good luck!

I have that on one of mine, I raised the temperature to 82, put one tbsp of aquarium salt in the 30 gallon, treated with ich attack, and a week and a half later the blotches are going away. I don't know what it is, none of the other fish have ich. The catfish isn't acting any differently and is just as active as ever. But yeah, he is definitely improving
