Why brain rot is a problem (and how I’m dealing with it)

With my video editor out for the holidays, I thought I would flip on the iPhone and have a low key chat about brain rot. I like these casual conversations with a cup of coffee and a book. How about you? Anyway, let's talk about why brain rot has become a thing and how books can help us deal with the problem.

Until next time, read slowly - take notes - apply the ideas.

👋Welcome to my reading room! Let me know what you thought of this video - decided to go low key here with no fancy edits. Just you, me, and some great books. If you found it helpful, I'd love to hear why. And if not, feel free to tell me where I screwed up. 😂 I'm all ears, and happy reading. Until next time, read slowly - take notes - apply the ideas.

Thanks Eddy! Great points! I’m reading Charles Dickens book, Bleak House. 989 pages!😬

Totally agree with the brain craving hard things! I’m reading The Dispossessed because I’m interested in how different societies/ economies work. I guess it’s not a challenging read compared to the books you are reading but it definitely makes you think!

I can't thank my parents, teachers and mentors enough for inculcating the love of reading in me at a very early age. Now I always challenge myself to read harder books, especially those dealing with philosophy : Humes, Locke, Aristotle, Plato, Marcus Aurelius, Xeno etc.

Anna Karenina and War and Peace weren't hard reads at all.

Henry James, Virginia Woolf and James Joyce I find challenging.

read Anna Karina during college and it's still one of my all time favorites.... I really need to read it again, but I really like what you're saying. Good Job

I completely agree. Hard books are so good for my brain. Anna Karenina feels like cheating because it's easy to read 😊 The characters are what makes it hard.

I was a little thrown off when you started quoting several French leftist philosophers, including at least one who advocated pederasty. The Gulag Archipelago on your boookshelf saved you. Maybe. (Along with others, but that's one of the first ones that catches the eye.) But the fact that you cited those as your favorites throws up red flags (pardon the pun.)
