100 years ago the world did not treat China very well at all.

China came to the brink a 100 years ago. The end of a dynasty uncertainty in leadership. It's great wealth gone. Abuses by foreign countries like the US & other colonial country's. Opium addiction ravaged the population. Japan took advantage of the opportunity of a shattered China. Grizzly crimes against humanity were afflicted upon the Chinese people not once but twice by Japan. Little effort was put forth by other countries to stop the brutalization & raping of the people.

Personally I think ignorant hate fuels a person to not be keen on China's progress. Easier to think of China as a 3rd world country like it was versus the shining jewel it is today.
