As an African there are small things I caught too that you'd only catch if you grew up in the culture. There are certain clicks and sounds we make when we're irritated that I caught them doing. I know it's a small thing but it caught me so off gaurd how authentic it is even with the small details

Blackpanther comics have always been about politics and personal struggles of T'challa and WAKANDA. The plots from the comics usually start slowly then builds up to reveal the whole package. I guess the movie just borrowed heavily from the comic, from the characters, to the tech, to the flow of the plot.

Glad they are taking a serious turn like The Winter Soldier. If the seriousness is like The Winter Soldier with good humor in good parts, I will surely love this movie

This movie has 88/100 on metacritic at the moment, which is the highest score of any superhero movie ever.

So the whole cast was awesome. That's the most important thing.

Just saw it
today in the UK- 1.) INCREDIBLE film. 2.) For all the talk about the ‘political’
tone, I can say that’s a bit of an OVERSTATEMENT- sure, there is socially conscious
dialogue here and there but it’s not overbearing, not unnecessary, and not
cheesy. 3.) The world of Wakanda created here, is MARVELOUS (no pun intended).
4.) There is and ACTUAL STORY which is cohesive and PURPOSEFUL, nothing feels
thrown in for effects or silly shock value, no gimmicks here. 5.) The acting
performances really are top notch (best collective acting performances in an
MCU film yet!. 8.) In my opinion, Boseman HOLDS HIS OWN in the midst of a
superb supporting cast 9.) I was actually SCARED of Killmonger in a
sort of way, as opposed
to the usual BIG BAD caricature-ish monsters we have come to know in Marvel
villaindom. 10.) Shuri, Klaw and M’baku are comedic GOLD, while also being
compelling in their respective story arcs. 11.) The costumes are ESQUISITE
(Ruth Carter deserves an Oscar nom for sure), the production design is among
the BEST I’ve seen in a superhero film (Hannah Beachler deserves a nom too), the
cinematography is AMAZING (Rachel Morrison deserves a follow-up nom next year
too), the EXCELLENT score by Ludwig Goransson, and soundtrack by Kendrick Lamar
really deserve lots of praise too. 12.) While the more personal/intimate action
scenes are OUTSTANDING, the larger grandscale action scenes are a bit CHOPPY
(the car chase scene was epic though). 13.) The third/final act seemed a little
RUSHED in order to wrap up the story (I guess time constraints- the movie is
already over 2hrs long). 14.) Okoye is great and so is W’kabi, but I was a bit
CONFUSED by their dynamic at certain points .15.) Overall, a very entertaining
watch it was, I was transported and invested from start to finish. 8.8/10.
Definitely recommend this to ANYONE and EVERYONE!

P.S,  for those thinking this is an anti-white film and
trying to give it bad reviews even before seeing it, the joke is definitely on
you and your legion of small-minded gremlins, those who actually see it (and
there will be many) will tell the tale- this film’s cultural depth and
storyline is far too rich to even CARE what white people are doing. This is a Wakandan
story. The reviews are mostly great because the film is mostly great. End of
story.

I was gripped by the talking drums and african chant in the Wakanda theme song. Felt something in my spirit.

If it's so different then as a Marvel fan I'd wanna see it that much more, especially if the humor is done with significant restraint and allows a much more serious and emotional story. It would be a breath of fresh air because of how many MCU films have had a little too much comedy recently, and this reduces my fears of that being a trend for most future films.

I recently discovered your channel and LOVE you both! Your enthusiasm, analysis and obvious respect for the craft is contagious! I thoroughly enjoy listening to your reviews. This one is ESPECIALLY meaningful... I can't wait to see this movie and the deference you've both given to aspects like the culture, the music, the overall excellence made me teary-eyed. Thank you!

Great, and I mean GREAT review! The music... yes. Every article of it, the Korean pop, the African, the Rap... I’m getting the album.

@the Reel Rejects I THANK YOU for giving T'Challa his due in this review! SOOoooo many reviews I've seen act as if all the other characters outshone him at every turn, or that his was a "boring"character and I find that the complete opposite is true. He was amazing, grounded, powerful and didn't need the extra anything to shine like a slow-burning flame. The only place I would give the teensiest disagreement with your assessment is in regards to Nakia [Lupita N'Yong'o's character]. I feel like they made her so much more than just his love interest- she had her own agenda, her own passions and missions to carry out in the world, AND they loved each other. I think it was the very focus on NOT making it all about their love story that really allowed her character to shine. Otherwise, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this review. BraVO!!

'Reason not to watch' is actually not a reason at all.
