Rediscovering Ancient Gardening Secrets

So much hidden wisdom is coming to light and we are rediscovering ancient gardening secrets - they are out there if we look! Bio-dynamic farming is an ancient secret that was rediscovered and rejuvenated by Rudolf Steiner. At its most basic, it is gardening by the moon.
Growing our own food is vital I think, for health and well-being, so the more ancient wisdom we can draw on the better.

Oh I'm so glad your talking about this. Rudolph Steiner was a genius, and Maria Thun was too. I've had these books for many years and I grow so much food I give it away to the food bank. It's really a viable learning tool, it's amazing.

Terri, your videos the last few weeks have been outstanding! I have been using a biodynamic calendar called Stella Natura for probably 20 years now! There are times when I miss an opportune time to sow seeds according to the calendar, however, knowing that weeding around the seedlings during the proper time, harvesting them etc still helps. I've also found that making certain things like soap, lotions, bread, cheese, etc turn out best when I make them on flower or root days. Leaf days I avoid for making things! The elementals hear us and they want to help us! Blessings to you, your family and your readers.

Thanks again for another wonderful video . Your new garden will be beautiful. Biodynamic gardening makes perfect sense to me. Embracing the metaphysical coinciding with the moon phases is exciting. Since following your teaching l do feel a real sense of connection to my garden. Especially my Big Elderberry tree which is at the back door. Being in my garden, particularly at night is like an awakening of my senses. It makes me feel as one with my plants. I feel loved and safe. Thanks for sharing Terri. Blessings to you and Lol.

Чудесно! Харесвам биодинамичното земеделие. Имам Календар с посевните дни на Мария Тун. Засаждам и се грижа за цветята и зеленчуците по него! Приятно градинарство!

🌝Oh, Terri! I Love your Lunar Planting Calendar! 🌿I was always fascinated by the Medieval "Book of Hours" or "Book of Days" that showed pictures of plantings and harvesting while showing the zodiac signs and phases of the moon! 🌞The Farmers Alamanc is also a wonderful source for when to plant along with moon phases!🌺Thank You So Much for explaining about this auspicious time for releasing karma!🌱I've felt very shaky and sensitive these past few days and wasn't sure what the cause was🌷☘I've Always Loved that quote from Shakespeare too!🌻🐝I need to start leaving offerings to the nature spirits again! My life was much sweeter when I did that! I've had to move around so much that I just stopped because I didn't want to get attached to a place anymore. I think I will start again and maybe I will feel safer☘🏡

I'm sure your new garden will be both functional and beautiful. I once learned a bit of Bio Dynamics, thanks for bringing it back to my mind!

Hi Terri!! I live in the southern US; most folks here still use the Old Farmer´s Almanac, which is planting by the moon. Old ways are the BEST ways in so many cases. Elderly people would not dream of planting a garden without consulting the Almanac. Thanks for another great video. Blessed Be )O(

Terri, you have inspired me to get out and make a couple of changes to my garden. I still have snow at my place and temps are still in the 20s overnight, but right now I have paper and pencil. I also went and looked through all my seeds, so I could get them started and ready to plant when the time comes.
Thank you for sharing

"No bees were harmed during the making of this film." That bumble bee looked like it just wanted its morning coffee when it was tackled by a playful kitten! Too cute!

I'm pretty sure those bumbles do more damage to themselves thwacking their heads against the wooden beams on my screen porch all summer than those soft little paws could ever inflict. 😁

I love learning from you! My dad was very similar in our garden and followed the sky. I'm in the U.S, 3 generations out of county Waterford/Cork, but the Irish influence has been passed down. When harvesting our garden, my dad always made sure we did not pick everything. He said we had to leave a bit of it in the ground so we didn't make the earth faeries mad and so they would bless us to have a good harvest the next year. (I still do this).

And I clearly remember being snatched up in the air by him as I was about to run and play in a faery ring we had come across while walking. That was almost a serious mistake by my 4 year old self. I remember being flung over his shoulder as he carried me away from there explaining why we must leave faery rings alone. To this day, if I come across anything remotely resembling a fae ring, I quickly and carefully remove myself. 😅
I also remember going into the backdoor one day as my dad was coming out. He told me, "Yer muther's Irish eyes are not a smilin'" and we both ran away! That was our family code to leave our mother alone, as she was upset, usually by something our father had done, like led my youngest brother across the river when they released the dam. He wanted to walk on the river bottom, but it ruined my brother's brand new shoes and we were quite poor in the ways of money, so mother was not happy with him. They both died young, my mother at 42 and my father at 60. I miss them so, your channel has a way of making me feel at home again. Thank you Terri. ❤

As an astrologer in eastern Canada I always use the moon cycles. Last year at the Solar Eclipse in April I set my seeds for my tomato plants - I ended up with 2- 9ft Beefsteak tomato plants. Then later I planted Sunflower seeds (using the moon phase) - on the pkg of seed the sunflowers were expected to grow 6 they grew to 12 feet! At the Solar Eclipse this year 2025 (March 29th) will be once again when I will set my seeds indoors. Why change a great thing!!! Thank you for all that you do!

Dear Terry. I've been following your Sunday videos for years now. Thank you for the knowledge and the joy you share. I am delighted that you are studying Bio-dynamic gardening now. I'm a Steiner Waldorf early years educator myself and a passionate gardener living in County Cork and love Steiners work on many aspects. I was listening to Axel Burkhart, a German Anthroposophist who interviewed a Demeter, bio-dynamic farmer last week. Unfortunately, it is all in German, but I was thrilled when he said that people with gluten allergies and lactose intolerance have no problems with products produced using bio-dynamic farming methods... Isn't that just wonderful 😊. So I hope that you will be able to embed it all in your homestead for the benefit of your family and for the benefits of the land. Much love Ulli x

I thought "Poor bumblebee", when I saw the playful cat smashing it.
Fortunately, you left a comforting comment at the end 😅.
