Thanks for posting this. Just picked up an F200 and, as a beginner, wanted to understand as much as I could about the features.
This was the most helpful video I've found. 10/10

Well, Guthrie uses a Charvel which has floating tremolo with locking tuners. John Petruci also uses in the same way...

Locking Tuners + Locking Nuts + Gotoh1996T + Fu tone spring + SureClaw =150% stable

I put locknuts on almost all my builds. It takes everything above the nut line out of the tuning stability equation. Locking tuners are convenient for string changes but add weight to the headstock.

Locking tuners are for quicker string changes, and do not help tuning stability if you wrap your strings the right way. I personally have never gotten string slippage on standard tuners.

So if I were to put locking tuners on a Floyd rose with a locking nut would it stay perfectly in tune still?

locking tuners do not lock and if you know how to put on strings there is no tuning stability advantage of locking tuners as a matter of fact if you have a non tilted headstock with non staggered tuners and you dont put any winds on the peg with your locking tuners you will actually have less tuning stability because less break angle, i am sick of guitar myths

17 guitars, of those, 8 have a locking trem so no need for locking tuners, but of the remaining 9 only 1 doesn't have locking locking tuners because they're aged and unmatched tuners/bridge would look weird.

That said, for the love of god, make a video on the "special" way you can string a locking tremolo guitar, you know, with the ball end on the tuner, it's so easy, and it renders locking tuners "useless" on locking trems.

Thanks, and keep up the good work !

It is called friction. Strings are springs. Point to Point lock down with no additional friction element equals stability. Locking tuners help to eliminate one equation of unstability but there is still a friction element called the nut. Remove that from the equation and the "math" is eliminated by a 3rd.

I have an abasi qith locking tuners and a 510 that can drive close to Floyd level. I think they server the locking tuners server the same purpose, but they are not the same. Especially if you rir it right and have like a quarter turn on the turner

Can an Ibanez Edge III be replaced by a different version without modding?

What about the John Petrucci signatures? They have a trem but no locking nut

Hi I'm a beginner. 2:13 I have exactly this problem here, I just need to do a simple bend and the string goes out of tune. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what I should do to stop having this problem?

Locking tuners make it easier to keep in tune. I have big hands and those pesky micro tuners are not my favorite thing. Plus micro tuners have a limited range. 3 of my guitars have locking tuners and I have to problem with them.
