Croatia's STUNNING Plitvice Lakes National Park

Plitvice Lakes National Park exceed all of our expectations. It is a must see if you are visiting Croatia. We had such a great time walking through the park. We certainly learned that here in Europe we will want to be places early. Just a few hours after we arrived at the National Park it was completely filled with people. And this was during the should season! Plitvice Lakes National Park was certainly a great way to start off our summer in Europe!

Croatia looks so beautiful. I've only flown over There before; never got to see it. It does remind me of Fairbanks and Palmer.

I was just there last Wednesday when we were in Croatia. It wasn't on the list of things to do but I convinced my wife that we should make the 3 hr drive each way to see this.
I kept reading that you should get here early. So, we arrived at 7:30am after leaving our appt at around 3:30am..lol.

There was hardly anyone in the park or at least while we were walking the entire C trail until we got to the entrance 2 at around 11:30am. After that when the shuttle bus took us back down to Entrance 1 there were so many people it was horrible, busses of kids, busses of tour guides...etc.. Looking back down at the main water fall the entire trail looked like a Disney queue with the amount of people standing and waiting to get by or see the falls. I'm so happy we were able to walk the entire thing and not have people around us. My biggest advice is get there early. Unfortunately, the day that we went the sun wasn't out and it was gloomy/cloudy. Still super beautiful though. Everyone should come to see this park at least once in your lifetime. It was breathtaking.

I can 100% imagine having a different experience if we would have arrived later and been in the entire mix of everyone. But, the way we did it was wonderful. This place brought tears to my eyes with how beautiful it was.

I wish the cave would have been open. That would have been fun to go through. But the bridge/path to it look like it was falling apart and when we were walking it was water coming up and over the path so I think for safety they don't have it open to people.

No the waterfall is not slap, the waterfall word is vodopad, slap is the different feature, smaller more like a cascade, well a waterfall up to 1-2 meters height, which is usually the case in this part of croatia in carse topography rivers, so they call them all slap, slapovi plural, but that veliki slap is actually vaterfall, vodopad, just because the main feature of the river is slap, that one is also called the same.

Also bears and wolves are everywhere in europe, yeah most western countries don't have a lot of them, depending on a country, but some like sweden and finland, or romania, balkans in general are full of them, same with the wolves, italy for instance was low on volwes even just 20-30 years ago, nowaday is teaming with them even in the south of the country, not just the alps, you'll hardly find coupke of countries without volwes, perhaps netherlands and denmark, although i think they have a few too.
