So my 5-year-old Mate 20 x actually has a dedicated aperture setting and it ranges from F1.2 to F16.
I'm sure there's nothing mechanical going on. But after watching this video I tried it, for the very first time, and it does work!
But
I am now enjoying my S23 Ultra and though sometimes I struggle with point and shoot pictures being in focus. When they hit they are fantastic. And I love the far reaching zoom capabilities of this phone. I think it shoots really good video and the editing tools on board really are amazing!

I don't agree with the Zoom category at all. Xiaomi offers a wider range of zoom distances that you can use. While Samsung performs slightly better at 20x and 30x, Xiaomi excels at 2x and 5x, surpassing the S23. Although Xiaomi may not be the best at 30x, it still does a good job, and the difference is minimal. In my opinion, it is more valuable to excel at 1x, 2x, 3x, and 5x rather than 20x and 30x. Personally, I would use 2x and 5x more frequently than 30x.
