Noodle Journey is an episodic review series in which we learn all about instant noodle brands and products and then do a deep dive into the noodle quality, spice level, and overall flavor. All reviews are as thorough as possible. The noodles are cooked according to the manufacturer's instructions using only the contents of the product package unless otherwise indicated. This ensures that the review is as unbiased as possible and evaluates whether or not I think a product is worth a purchase either as a standalone meal or as a base that you could spruce up. Each review represents my personal opinions and is for informational/entertainment purposes only. I am not responsible for how the information is interpreted or used.

What's this? A Japanese tonkotsu product from one of my favorite South Korean noodle companies? You bet I had to try this. This is Nongshim's Tonkotsu Ramen with Kuromayu (Black Garlic Oil)!

I haven't had this kuromayu version, but I have had and enjoyed the spicy variety. I think I remember buying the spicy one at a gas station convenience store, oddly enough. As for the kuromayu one, I remember seeing it recently at Walmart but haven't bought it yet.

I have tried this cup noodle, it's pretty good. I can confirm that the broth is VERY rich and the best part of this meal. Also had an issue getting all that black oil out, might be worth a rinse of that packet and drop open into the broth for a second rather than fighting the ingredient, but I have to say the noodles were low quality to me. Maybe I'm just spoiled from Marutai.

Recently Japanese Nissin merchandised a noodle of Japanese origin with Korean on the package. Many Koreans criticized the company as a copycat. LOL
* I made a mistake and corrected it.
a noodle of Korean origin → a noodle of Japanese origin
