picking and choosing the definition of "insurrection" is baffling me

I don’t like Trump, however this will create precedent to remove any candidate on loose terms regarding political rhetoric, and I think we can all assume every state will have a bias and remove their opponent on the ballot. It’s pretty concerning

Mr. Murray, why not ask the citizens of Colorado what they want. Is Colorado a dictator state? Are you trying to tell them what to do? They have EVERY right as Americans to make the decision themselves. If I were a resident of Colorado, I would be very disappointed in my so called representatives right now. Let the PEOPLE speak, not you!!!! 😡😡😡

Thank you Justice Kagan - should ONE state decide who gets to be President of the USA?

These were the highlighted summary arguments allowing us a window into fears and intelligence, ( or lack there- of) of each Justice.

President Trump was never in that crowd or do you know for sure that he was in that crowd, just a question.

Article I Sec 5 states that "Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, " And "Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member."

Before the 14th Amendment to prevent a Confederate who was elected by their state as a Representative, it would take 2/3rds vote to prevent seating that member. Senators were not even elected by popular vote but by the State Legislators.

The Amendment gives Congress the power to enforce the provision, and with regards to the President, it does not specify the President but it states that no one can be an elector of President or Vice President if an insurrectionist. Its Congress who during the certification of the Electoral College vote can challenge the eligibility of a candidate to be elected President

The Supreme Court is supposed to go completely by what the supreme Court says it says insurrection or rebellion

Wow this doesn't sound like the actual full hearing with the justices 😂😂 they picked the 3 mins that had it seem like they weren't getting their asses handed to them thinking they can determine the countries candidate choices

First Murray said it was an insurrection, then he said no, it was just a riot. Later he said it was an insurrection - so many contradictions.

All these supreme Court justices from Colorado should be barred

All 9 judges are going to decide against colorado for a variety of reasons. Not least among them is the very real fact that to do the opposite is to give each state carte blanche to declare anyone an insurrectionist for being tangentially associated with criminal trespass or other minor crime and barred from the ballot. It would be the end of our country as a functioning government with meaningful elections.

It’s very clear Colorado is going to lose this case.
