#56 - Shure SLX4 wireless microphone receiver repair

This Shure receiver did not power up. The problem was traced to a couple of small surface-mount inductors, which were blown together with a PCB trace. The inductors were replaced, and the trace repaired. The external power supply was tested using an electronic load.

Thanks for posting this. Reminds one to always look for obvious damage. Would have liked to see you solder in the replacements. Looked pretty cramped layout to work in.

I need to replace one of the bulkhead BNC connectors on the back but I am having trouble removing the top lid. It is a friends and I dont want to force it. Is there any tips or tricks you have for removing that cover? all screws on the top, sides and bottom and have been removed but it looks like it is attached to the faceplate somehow but I cannot see where.

Good day, excellent videos on repair. I have a Shure ULXP4 reciever that connects with the ULX1 bodypack, but does not connect with the original ULX2 handheld transmitter Microphone. How do I solve this issue? Many thanks in advance

I found a couple of these at Goodwill, bought one but don't know of any use for it. The channel doesn't seem to be tunable and i don't have anything that transmits on the channel that it uses. Any ideas?

I have a ULXS4 receiver and cannot figure out how the plastic covers come off, I figure it's latches that need to be pressed on with a small screwdriver until they release

8:55 I think I know what happend: Somebody connected a different power supply and the unit to something that did have not 0V on the ground, so there was a current flow from the power input GND to some other GND. Like when you don't have your scope on an insulation transformer and connect the ground to the positive input of a switching PSU capacitor.

How would you fix a receiver that doesnt show the digits in the LED screen? The receiver works and the screen is green but no numbers show at all.

Thanks! We have a few of these, and I've wondered what they were like inside.

Do you think it would be possible for a competent diyer to re tune one of these to a different band? E.g. from G4 to J3? Shure will do it but of course it'll cost you. Or would it be too complicated, need firmware, take a bunch of rf test gear, ...?

Hi, Do you know if you can change the frequency range of a Shure SLX system, so that it works in another band?
