Amen, Steve. Lucky enough to have a great father, who in term helped me become the father I am; proud and loving. Daughter was abused by the moms boyfriend. They hid it for 2 years. I found out, called cps, I have full, sole custody now and the boyfriend is in jail facing life. My daughter is healthy and happy as ever, and most importantly she’s safe with her daddy!

So Many of them are to busy and working for their (other) step children and Don't even have a clue as to their own. I don't see anything wrong with helping others but they need to start taking care of their own first?
It takes a village to raise a child!
This absent parents don't realize how bad they are hurting their children? They don't need to be scared anymore.

Deadbeat parenting covers far more than just dad's wanting to avoid responsibility. I've spent 5 years in a vicious cycle with BM, where I'm permitted to build a relationship, BM decides enough of that starts to deny time with my kids then when I'm allowed back in I'm having to rebuild any relationship I previously had, I feel like sisyphus just wishing the whole cycle could just be put to rest. Crazy part is in some parts of the country the legal system is so horribly broken it frequently gets leveraged to enable and encourage Deadbeat mothers. Quite literally been told by a commissioner that despite court ordered visitation in the parenting plan that my BM doesn't have any legal obligation to permit visitation and thus isn't in contempt for months of denied visitation. Kinda wish shows like this would show the flip side of this with mothers so bitter they let their malice override any kind of compassion for their children to such a degree that they'd go out of their way to deny their children a relationship just to hurt the other parent... because in my eyes it's vile that a mother could stoop so low (but that also doesn't fit most people's narrative so any piece done on the matter would be met with overwhelming criticism and Deadbeat mothers scrambling to try and play victim)

My father doesn’t know what I like to eat or my amount of vaccinations and doctor visits, but he’s an amazing father and a great husband to my mother, he doesn’t know these kind of things because he works his butt off so our family can eat good and have a roof over our head, my mother knows these because she’s supposed to, she’s a CRNP, my point is, just because your parent doesn’t know specific things about you, don’t mean they’re a deadbeat parent.
