Still using this TV as computer monitor in 2021 going to finally upgrade and move it to the garage. This TV is a Tank.

Looks pretty awesome! Not Sony Bravia quality, but it is better than most people would give a Sylvania TV credit for. You may have to tweak the settings a bit to get avid gamer-quality. The default settings just don't seem quite right.

the industry probably made 1080i before 1080p, but its also cheaper to make. example would be that they make lower end computers even though there are much better ones because of the price and different peoples needs. the "i" stands for interlace. the "p" stands for progressive scan.

@banhbao369 I didn't say anything about contrast ratio because it is so objective. Manufacturers can say anything they want in regards to contrast ratio, because there are no standards for it.

I couldn't agree with you any more, trust me! But this is the best TV you can get for the price. Sony and Samsung will always be on my top list, regardless.

Hdmi is a cale wire you can hook up a pc and cammeras, etc. great video

Check the TV's video modes for "Gaming" Mode. This mode cuts most of the video processing time down so the lag ceases to continue. Good luck.

Well, some companies do kind of make the cables cheap. $20 is too much, yes, but I'd always go for a well-known company. Never go generic; it won't get as good as quality, but more importantly, it will stop working after a few months. X_X But don't buy more expensive if it's like Sony vs. Philips cable LOL

Input Select.... If you used the green, blue, and red cables it will be component. If you used the yellow, white, and red cables it will be simply "Video".

Umm... did something fall in it??? When it goes from an input screen to a game, it'll make a "pop". LCD's do that. But if it's happening while you're playing the game...then that's not good.

@germansold21 Is your 62inch a DLP (rear projection)? They tend not to be so great for gaming.

CRT is only 60 hz as well but doesn't have blur!

u may be able to go up to 1080i but itll usually make the picture quality worse is you dont use the recommended 720p

Good review, I am actually getting the 37" version soon myself. Probably within the next 4 - 6 weeks, hopefully I'll get my layaway paid off by then.

Don't pay more than $10 for an HDMI cable. They're all basically they same. I paid $20 for one because I didn't want to wait for a delivery, and it works fine. Even $20 is kinda a rip off.

1080i is truly just 540p, two sets of 540 lines flicker on and off(too fast for the human eye to notice) to create a picture.

In my opinion, just use 720p. Fast moving objects have much less studder and jagged edges.

1080p has a higher resolution, runs smoother and looks better. 1080i runs slower and is in lower end products. Basically, 1080p is the best you can get.

If you're playing it on your computer, it sounds like a video card problem - not the TV's fault. If you are playing at HD resolutions with an outdated vid card it might lag. =(

I recently purchased this, but it bothers my eyes because whenever there is fast movement on a PS3 game or even on a DVD or TV, there is a slight blur.

I'm going to trade this in for a Samsung... hopefully it won't have the same problem.

Well it IS only 60hz. If you don't like blur I'd recommend buying a plasma.
