This week, as the White House kicked off its “Made in America” theme, critics quickly pointed out that many of Trump's branded hats, ties, furniture and other items are manufactured outside the U.S. The president's spotlight on American-made goods also comes the same week that the Carrier heating and cooling factory in Indiana will lay off several hundred workers tomorrow—jobs, that Trump had pledged to save only months earlier.

Guy in his 30's thinks he will retire in a company. Wow, we are not living in the 60's, kiddo.

To my fellow Americans, show absolutely no loyalty to a corporation. Do what’s required and give them nothing extra.

Let’s NOT forget about the 700+ people in Huntington, Indiana that didn’t even have the option. They were the forgotten out of this whole fiasco.

Not just losing jobs, companies are losing quality too.

It's funny that Carrier is moving their facility to Mexico...when this factory employs a lot of Hispanics, Mexicans included.

I think the first time your alarm bells should go off is when a summer employee learns your shit in a week.

Factory workers have been getting screwed over since the 1920s. My uncle works at carrier in Indianapolis. And he's probably going to move upper state with us to find another stable job.

This has been happening for years, and it's probably not going to stop here, it'll end up getting worse.

Regardless of the political part of the story, there are still plenty of jobs in Indiana. Heck, up in Warsaw there's a medical implant company that might have to move to a different country just because there aren't enough workers. I know it'd suck to relocate, but there are good paying jobs available.

I doubt anyone could stop the company from moving when the wage gap is $5 to $25, However I sincerely hope that correct importation taxes will be applied to the products and the Americans vote with wallets when shopping.

I wish vice would do a macroeconomic piece - how are the different economies interacting and affecting each other? How much is the profit/margin do these companies make through Outsourcing? Can the profit motive be addressed only through Outsourcing? Are there industries where America has the upper hand and is compensating for lack of absolute advantage? Personally, I avoid goods made in China.for example I don't buy make up made in china by an American company - the quality does tend to differ. And I've had the worst luck with iPods and iPhones lately, but there isn't a phone that is made in America. What most consumer goods companies don't realise is that there is still a demand for made in America goods. They're considered superior in quality in the consumers mind.

Lol I don't know what's funnier this or the fact that Carrier got a huge tax cut from this as well. What a smart president lol
