Two of the major instruments Bach played on was the harpsichord and organ. In fact Bach was highly respected for his advice of organs after there were built and would try them out.

Bach is "brook" in German. Beethoven said Bach was "not a brook, but a sea." Mendelssohn helped champion the rediscovery of Bach's music. Chopin's Twenty-four Preludes was based on Bach's Well Tempered Clavier. Reger said "Bach is the beginning and end of all music.”

Great video! JS Bach is among my favourite composer.... I wished you could do more videos on other great baroque composers like Vivaldi, Handel, Scarlatti & more.... BTW, Really appreciate your works!

Bach and his sons were harpsichordists.
The Klavier (clavier) means "keyboard instrument" - organ, harpsichord, clavichord and fortepiano.
There are no records of Bach every playing the clavichord - the organ and harpsichord were his keyboards of choice.
Bach never owned a clavichord but owned several harpsichords.
The Well-tempered Clavier was primary aimed at the new tuning system for HARPSICHORDS.

why would his brother not allow him to play longer pieces during his childhood?

What does Benjamin Franklin and George Washington have to do with any of this?

One small critique: the words "clavier" and "clavichord" don't mean the same thing. "clavier" refers to any keyboard instrument (including organ, harpsichord, or clavichord). "clavichord" refers only to the instrument illustrated in the video at 3:28.

Wonderful video! Uses very simple words so children can understand! I love it! But it might seem "babyish" to adults. But since I'm a kid, I love it!

I like a lot your musical videos Chris! In this one there's one thing I have to correct: the image of Buxtehude is not the right one as the painting from which it was taken represents several musicians but Dietrich is said to be the one with his elbow on a score that says In hon [horem]. The painting is from Jan Voorhout and there you can see to another great master that inspired Bach: Johann Adam Reinken.

Very nice. I adore Bach. But the ackground sounds interferes greatly with the narrative.

Turn down the background music! It is very hard to discern some of the words with it so loud!

At first I thought it was a special guest speaking until the end.

Friedrich II. of Prussia called "The Great" was never Emperor of the German (or in fact the Holy Roman) Empire. He was only King of (or formally in) Prussia! :D

I thought this is about J.S Bach. Little did I know that it was about Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and G.F Handel
Next video about George Washington: When George Washington died the greengrocer in my neighborhood won't have been born for 250 years.
