This why I own dictionaries written before people in purple hair started rewriting them. The new ones are constantly screwing with your head.

When cultures meet, they exchange ideas and vocabulary, and trying to control that is a losing battle.

I don’t understand how “Old white guys” isn’t stereotyping. Can anyone explain? Or how using someone’s race to define who they are isn’t racist.

This lady is passive aggressive (as I understand it) and a wolf in sheep's clothing. There, two cliches in one sentence.

Co-opted. You know something is powerful when it's co-opted by the mainstream. The meaning is altered to dilute the message.

This is the problem with society. No one is on the same page. if we all used the same vocabulary.this would be a start

Yes I woke up to the idea that the need to be a part of something shows how I lack an idea of myself. I'm woke, no I'm awake to the illusion.

So old white cats can't use "woke" or "lit", but is there a cut off point? Or do you need purple hair with a self anointed status to use such words? Discourse not discord!

The correct term should be awake and not woke, and I thought lit was short for literature or someone being on fire.

The term is constantly being re-define to accommodate whatever 'the WOKE movement' wants it to mean at any given time. "I am woke and you are wrong." By it's usages, it means repressions, and pointing blame.

She did not say what woke was. Just spoke a lot without giving the meaning😂😂

Here I am thinking woke meant awake to all the hidden sh*t going on.

I’m sure most people know what “woke” and “lit” mean. Why can’t old white guys say “woke” on twitter I’m confused is it because of there skin color?

You're absolutely right. I remember this for all through the seventies all through the 80s and it was only used by my community it is a rallying cry for black people to wake the hell up

"woke", Wow, i guess my life has been meaningless until now. Thank you Democratic party for making sense of things for me since i'm too stupid to figure things out on my own.

Honestly, I knew that she wasn’t going to do a good job at explaining it.

Woke is a political term of African American origin that refers to a perceived awareness of issues concerning social justice and racial justice.

Lit is slang for : fun, cool, amazing
