prefer the GGD by a mile, they sound a heap fuller in the mix the SD3, of course you can play with eqing and compression for ages, but just for a straight up great sound out of the box GGD is definitely the way to go. Cheers for the Vid!

GGD sounds so much more human, natural, and has the right amount of processing to where it sounds like a real kit and not some kind of overproduced drum machine. Plus it’s insanely cheaper than SD3 so I definitely prefer GGD.

I feel like One Kit Wonder vs EZ Drummer would be a more fair comparison, since both are made to sound great out of the box. I think Superior Drummer has samples that aren't as processed so you can mix them yourself.

GGD to me sounds in this video like a drum machine lacking dynamics a real drummer would do. I've used SD3 and can make it sound very real with minimal work.

You simply can't compare these 2 products. Superior drummer 3 is an all inclusive solution. Each drum sound can be modified and tailored, midi loops, tap 2 find, and includes apps like audio tracker. GGD does sound good but the level of customization is not there. One is a full software package and the other is simply a kontakt library. That is the reason for the price difference alone. Kontakt is a nightmare. I wish GGD would create their own software engine. SD3 can be made to sound exactly like the samples above by using the mixer and adding the included plugins and even re-tuning the drums. If you are looking for a quick mix, GGD is still great.

SD3 Death YRC is the only kit I/we use for our progrock/metal releases. Played by me on a high-end e-kit of course. I have the GGD stuff as well, and sure, GGD Metal is cute and fun to play around with for a few minutes. But not much more than that. They represent the epitome of overprocessed drums. Much like Steven Slate Drums (which I also dislike wholeheartedly).

SD3 sounds unreal, thin and harsh.

Although ggd doesnt fit your mix perfectly. Invasion would be better

I totally get people saying GGD is the better value which is fine but you can't compare a One Kit Wonder to Superior. Superior is essentially a DAW, you get audio to midi conversion which is spot on 99 percent of the time, built in plugins, the base kit has over 10 kits and D&D is by far the most powerful expansion. And best of all you don't have to deal with Kontakt. If GGD made their own VST i'd be so happy, Kontakt is ass

The major issue is here that the two sounds are very different so people confuse the sound with what sounds like real drums. the SD3 drums are just way more produced. If you have ever heard the raw samples in SD3 you don't need to look for anything else and I can guarantee you wont be able to tell a real drummer from SD3. I have managed to fool drummers several times

The cymbals on the superior drummer kit sound pretty harsh, imo. Probably because of the processing applied. Good video though.

the truth about human aspects is really in the midi, no matter what quantized midi will sound kinda fake, take the cheapest drum vst with loose midi off the grid and it will sound more human then the best drum software with quantized midi. i thought the ggd sounded better on this one but sd3 is good enough as anything else if you know what youre doing

The GGD doesn’t sound very real to me, especially the kick drums.
