Creating Monthly Composites – Python – ECOSTRESS Tutorials

The ECOsystem Spaceborne Thermal Radiometer Experiment on Space Station (ECOSTRESS) is a mission designed to capture remotely sensed images of Earth’s surface temperature to model evapotranspiration and photosynthesis. This data can be useful for many different applications including agriculture, forestry, and urban heat. However, there is a barrier to entry for those who are unaware how to access, use, and apply this data to their research. Thus, a series of trainings and tutorials were developed to help guide users to access and apply ECOSTRESS data. The result is a collection of training topics ranging from setting up necessary software and downloading data to processing the data.

This tutorial will show you how to create monthly composite images of ECOSTRESS data using a Python code. The code shows how to make composites of Land Surface Temperature (LST) products, but it can be modified for other ECOSTRESS products.
