We all play for our team and brotherhood but most importantly we play for culture and our ancestors. When I hear the history of lacrosse it brings chills to my bones. Just a little thing that is funny to all of us natives is when non-indiginous people pronounce tewaaraton. Being a Mohawk word, it is pronounce dewa'aladun, the t's are pronounced as d's, and the r's are pronounced as l's. There was no written language, so when these French letters were introduced, the Mohawk people used it. Like the word Iroqois was the French word for Haudenosaunee people, meaning snake, is pronounced as Iloqua, using those same "rules"
