We have no doubt amplified this situation. The fact that we are causing the amplification and are too greedy as a species and can’t disengage from our self-interest to long enough to make the needed changes. If you’re letting proximity to danger make you apathetic, you’re fooling yourself. The effects won’t stop with the submergence of coastal regions. We all know proximity to hurricane landfall is not a reliable indicator of wether or not it will affect you. Very concerning.
