My Cystatin C was 0.65 so I’m happy to hear this news

Thanks for that video! My creatinine is 1, 3 mg/dl, GFR is 67, but I train a lot. I am adding cystatin to my next blood work!
You are right about red blood cell dist width - when I used your calculator, my age was 35 but once I inputted RBC width it jumped to 39 (I am 47). There was a surprise :)

Another awesome video. Just got kidney warnings from Prenuvo MRI and iollo metabolomics (both of which are great imo), and ill be getting my first Cystatin C test soon

Figure 1 of the Bortz paper where they show the selection proportions makes for some interesting reading. That's a technical point I know, but it shows some of the parameters are worth paying particular attention to.

can't wait for the next video, thank you

The video i didn't know I needed... my Creatinine is 1.35 and I thought it was because I took creatine. I have more muscle mass than 90% of those around me so this helps. THANKS!

Thank you for the insights. I gotta add cystatin c to my bloodwork

Volume is much better now :) Interesting about Cystatin C, on my amateurish correlation of biomarkers to age I missed that one, I'll go back and see why it wasn't significantly correlated.

Apparently kidney function is positivity associated with alpha-klotho which may be a major player in preserving brain health (Ref Dena Dubal's research) as well as general longevity. Saw a lecture by Tamara Isakova from about 2 years ago in which she showed a graph of eGFR vs Klotho. Nice positive correlation. So kidney health is important on many levels. According to Prof Dubal, exercise robustly increases alpha-Klotho, even more so than the favorable SNP. It makes sense that kidney health marker would be tracked and we do what we can to maintain. Recent discussion (YouTube) between Dena Dubal and Mark Mattson on Klotho and brain aging was very informative.

My Cystatin C egfr was at 91 the last time it was checked and. My creatinine egfr was 66.

I just discovered you and your very informative YouTube Channel. I'm especially interested in kidney function. Can you please tell me if you have a video where you talk about BUN and its relationship to how it all works.

Michael - always excellent updates. Like you i do a lot of exercise with heavy weights and running but like 20 years older at 70 years and BMI at 20. So maybe a factor in some kidney function parameters. My BUN is high 26 mg/dl. Other blood kidney parameters think ok - cystatin c @ 0.86 mg/dl with then a eGFR of 91, creatinine 1.03 mg/dl. In urine creatinine at one test 54.9 mg/dl & second test creatinine at 15 mg/dl, in urine albumin <3.0 ug/ml, in urine protein <4 mg/dl. Little strange all parameters seem good for kidney function but then BUN is high. But maybe BUN high from heavy exercise with weights and running. Could be though high BUN not related fully to kidney function and some other factor. Any ideas on overall importance of BUN as one most important or key factors in longevity would be appreciated.

Hi, I just discovered your channel and what you do is amazing, I would like to start tracking my progress through blood tests in conjunction with food, etc. to better understand your method, from which video I should start from? Thank you

I noticed from your graph that cholesterol is a positive contributor to biological aging. Do you know if this is LDL, HDL, TOTAL? Thanks

very interesting (as usual) Will you be assessing foods/nutrients that improve Cystatin C levels? (75 y/o my cystatin c is 1.03.) Also my creatinine levels have been relatively high due to supplementing with 5grams of creatine daily.

Hi, do you know how much iodine do you take x day? Because i can’t find in your videos. Thank you

Does eGFR have any significance? I'm 49 with 105 eGFR and 0.9 creatinine. Haven't measured Cys-C.

I know you only touched on kidney function briefly, but the other day I was thinking about how it might be possible to manipulate osmotic pressure to create some kind of detoxifying bath to compensate for reduced kidney function. It might be useful at least until we can figure out why kidney function declines with age. Although, I don't really know enough about the subject to know if it'd be possible or even safe to try to suck bodily waste out through the skin like that.
