When I was studying this account in seminary, my teacher said something I’ll never forget:
“At the times when we’re about to do the greatest things is when we will feel the most conflict.”

I just met with two elders and I will attend church my first time here in Pottsville Pennsylvania on Sunday morning.

Before I was a convert I always wondered where our modern prophets were. When I learned of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith, like many I turned away. However, as I read the BoM with a true heart I knew what I was reading was true. Then as I learned more about Joseph Smith outside of all the biased against him I knew he was a true prophet. It felt like fire in my heart and I wanted nothing more than to shout to the whole world that it is true.

"I knew it, and I knew God knew it...and I could not deny it."

These are very powerful words.

I didn't have a vision, (or in person meetings with any Heavenly beings) when I prayed about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

But my experience was (and still is) something I just CANNOT deny.

I know it, and God knows it, and I cannot deny it!

I hadn't been aware of the version that mentioned the "inappropriate images" that entered his mind before the Father and the Son appeared. That somehow made this event more relatable. Whenever we're trying to embark on something important and good, this happens. And it's only by calling on Jesus Christ that we can have the darkness cast away and proceed with the good.
