On my first day on DayZ, I met a random guy who took pity on me and showed me all the basics as we made our way to NWAF. When we got there, a squad of 4 jumped us and killed him. He got one before dying, I got 3 purely because they didn't see me yet. In the end, there was a 5th who got me. We both died, and I never saw him again, nor did I know his name to search for him. Whoever you were, wherever you are, thank you.

A met a player once during my first game of DayZ, we met each other at a store. He was fully geared and heavily armed while I had nothing cause I died earlier. I expected him to kill me right then and there but instead he took me under his wing. He was a man who would helped players who were new. He gave me a weapon and told me that he knew where there were more equipment up in the military base. We traveled together, talking and watching each other’s backs. He would tell me everything on how to do combat, sneaking and other things. Then I got sniped as we tried to sneak out of the base and bled out to death as he was forced to runaway. . . That was the last time we saw each other.

His name was “Pops”, the only name he told me. And even though we had spent 40-ish minutes together, he had somehow managed to be a farther figure to me. And also influenced me in today’s standards. Though it’s been a year or so sense our first and last encounter, I hope to meet him again someday in another sever.

Too “Pops”. I wish I had the time to thank him.

Would have been better if it was like a siths ending when you become the master after you take out yours not knowing it was them until your standing over them and realise it was your masters kit and body you were looking at. Truly becoming the monster he trained you.
