I love that Aloe and Apollo both have moth Pokemon. Moths have historically been associated with death, so their motivations are directly in their teams: death and rebirth. It also shows that the memory of their lost family stays with them.

Fun thing with Okapypaste is that real Okapis are actually relatives of the giraffe. So having it take inspiration from beta Girafarig is very fitting.

I picture Samson saying things like "It's heating up now" & "So this is the burning power of youth" & "This heat will be your downfall" & "BLAZE THROUGH BE THE LIGHT THAT MELTS THE DARK". Stuff along those lines & I love him...

My idea for a gym leader would be a fairy type who's kinda a ditz. The puzzles before you challenge him are super easy to get through, and once you challenge him, his team is super unbalanced and his pokemon drop like flies.

But then weird things start to happen during the battle. Your pokemon dont faint when their HP reaches zero, attacks that shouldn't be effective are now super effective. If you win, you get a badge, but later down the line, you're told that its actually a fake badge, and you have to go through the gym all over again.

The correct option is to surrender during the fake battle, and once you do, the gym leader congratulates you for seeing through the illusion, explaining that everything up until now was just a facade. Your real gym battle starts, and he's much smarter and a much more formidable opponent.

This embodies one of my favorite tropes, where characters obfuscate their competance and break it out when you least expect it, and fits my favorite type, Fairy, since fairies are known tricksters.
