You can see the ignorance in the comments he trespassed on a military base they're not getting fired for taking the right steps. If I lived there and heard someone snuck onto base I'd be horrified.

Under 50 USC 797, it is a misdemeanor crime to violate defense property security regulations. It is a crime under 18 USC 795 to photograph defense installations without first obtaining the permission of the commanding officer of the military installation.

If he was attempting to get onto the base I'm sure they would have done more than arrest him. Notice how the cop had the mps as back up and not the other way around.

So for anybody who doesnt know it is illegal to film and/or take pictures on a military installation and you can be arrested and charged under Federal code for doing so without the permission from the commanding officer of the installation. Military bases are not the place to mess around with a camera.

U can’t film at a military base. Some people have no common sense. Everything within a several mile radius is under the military. The military police don’t play. If caught ur under their jurisdiction and they don’t have any freedom of filming rights nor should they have cause again it’s MILITARY

Not if he's on the military base. You're not allowed to trespass on a military base! If you're filming an area inside the military ba, the same applies. Maybe this camera dude should get a job. And get out of his mom's basement!

I have a list of rules for visitors on my other phone, but basically you can find yourself removed from the installation at any time for any reason or even for no reason. Its super important that you dont act like an idiot when you're on post or you will find yourself in that situation. The rules include things like recording, drugs or weapons, cerfew (meaning if you're a visitor you're only allowed to between certain times), which gates you can enter through, what places you can go, and what places you very much cannot go.

I work on fort knox every day. As soon as you scan to pass the gate you are waving almost every right you have off of the instillation. Being on knox, it is illegal for me to film myself doing the job the government contracts me to do, and have seen people being arrested who don’t understand that the laws of National security trump your personal rights. Im all for practicing your constitutional rights and catching people who want to abuse their own, but know the limit. Don’t be a dick while on a military installation of any kind! It doesn’t matter the country! But to be honest, practice, don’t be a dick.

In my country, never do that, even outside a few meters from a military base.
If you're lucky, you're caught by military, but if you're not lucky, you're caught by intelligence from the military because you're in a gray area.

In Switzerland some had filmed the FA-18 hangar. The military police took them on board. Destroys 15, 000 francs of photograpy equipment and is telephone. He was on the public road, but he had filmed the wrong angle.

While you are correct that saying he was arrested. He was never charged with a crime and his property was returned to him with no explanation of why he was arrested. So many people watched a 5 second video and ran with their imagination.
