This is the most confusing explanation a novice could possibly consume

Thread rolling is the fasted way to manufacture external threads. Easy to setup with extrem long tool life and less down (to change threading inserts) time on your production machine. Thread rolling compress the grain structure of you material and doesn`t brake it as thread cutting. On top of it, thread rolling generates up to 30% more surface hardness in that cold formed area, so you can use that thread much more often. With LMT Fette rolling heads, we can thread roll from 0-80 up to 9" Keep on Rollin...' TITANS

Conversely, you can form a grinding wheel with a roller and make tap/tan chasers. Cool stuff.

We were doing that on Traub single spindle automatic lathes in the 70s

Rolling is even better than cutting. The thread will be much stronger

You should also show Thread Whirling. Faster, meaner! I understand they are very different techniques, but still!

ага, вот только что бы эта красота начала работать, нужен калиброванный пруток. а он стоит как крыло от самолета. и производство такого прутка не распостранено широко.
