I fly standby bc my dads in the military and is in the airlines and it’s really annoying when we don’t get on a flight lol

Where I work, standby bags can be checked in at the desk but until it is confirmed those passengers actually have a seat, that bag will not be loaded and sent back to the belt or directly given back to the passenger.

My dad use to work for United, so I know how hard it is to fly stand by. I have sat at airports waiting all day to get on a flight to my destination. It is the most stressful thing I’ve ever done, but that was precovid I have no idea how it is now.

They offload any luggage if the passenger isn’t onboard for security reasons. It’s a standard practice all around the world.

Yes, my dad works for an airline, so we fly standby all the time, because he works for a 5 star airline there is always a greater chnace if getting sests but it can get tiresome sometimes because we're such a big family and it often means you have to take middle seats on 15hr flights

My mom works as a gate agent for American and sometimes that happens and tbh it’s a horrible feeling flying standby especially if it is for something important and the realization that you got yours for free but don’t have as good of perks to get on as those who pay but overall it’s mainly a good thing
