Surfing small waves in Pauanui New Zealand on a HI Mid 6

Surfing some pretty average small waves on my HI Mid6 7’10 mid-length surfboard at Pauanui Beach, New Zealand. This board absolutely annihilates bigger more powerful waves, but is passably good on these smaller waves.

Harley Ingleby recommends a larger quad template set up. And I’ve used this board as a quad, and it rocks. But I’ve broken all the rules and ride it as a Twin with the brilliant AM Twin Performance core set up. I was inspired by Torren Martyn riding mid-length twins and how fast and loose they ride.

On a big wave you feel like you are riding lightning, balanced on the fine edge of triumph and disaster, just the way most surfers love it!
