Around 90 people were arrested after another night of violent disorder swept through the country on Saturday, with police bracing for more trouble in the days ahead.

Far-right demonstrators clashed with police in several towns and cities in England and Northern Ireland, leaving dozens of officers injured. Manchester, Hull, Liverpool, Bristol, Stoke-on-Trent, Blackpool, and Belfast were hotspots of unrest, with missiles hurled and shops looted.

The wave of violence began on Tuesday in Southport after a horrific knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club claimed the lives of three young girls.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer gave his full support for the police to crack down on "extremists" trying to "sow hate" and intimidate communities.

He held emergency talks with ministers to address the escalating chaos.

I'm a 75 year old man, and live on the outskirts of the east end of Glasgow. I used to occasionally get the bus into town but I no longer do. The periphery of the city and the city centre are now unrecognisable. Africans, Afghanistans and other mixed races now abound. Muslims are everywhere. I am totally shocked and dismayed about what is happening to my country. My father spent five years fighting for our country's freedom in El Alamein, Sicily and Italy in the second world war. For what? For constant incoming of illegal immigrants across the English Channel who get free everything, while I and millions of other pensioners get their winter heating allowance taken from them. This Labour government should resign immediately.
