Does God decide who will be a "believer" and who will not? This week I will be talking about this verse;

6:11
"And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message] and the dead spoke to them [of it] and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not believe unless Allah should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant."

Edit: For those of you who watch theses livestreams afterwards and have something to contribute but cannot attend them live, or otherwise would prefer not to get on the mic, I encourage you to put any contributions you have in the comments section and I will present them myself on your behalf in the next livestream.

***
Caravan of Contemplation is an intended regular weekly livestream. The intention behind it is to have a place online that is an open mic so that anyone can come on and share any Qur'anic insights they might have. All insights are welcome. This isn't a forum for me or anyone else to argue against something that someone else has learnt or gleamed from the Qur'an. It is for sharing insights, and so all insights will be listened to respectfully and carefully.

The greater purpose for this stream is to encourage literally ANYONE and EVERYONE to start to think and contemplate and ponder on the verses of the Qur'an, which is something that our traditional inheritance has not only stifled, but has even actively discouraged and warned against at times. Whereas God's invitation to study and ponder His Book is open to all. And so this stream is open to all, Muslims, non-Muslims and ex-Muslims, and whether you know Arabic or not, though of course please also be aware of your limitations.

So if you have something of benefit that you have gleamed from the Qur'an, then please come on and share.

The secondary purpose is more personal. I would myself love to hear pertinent insights into the Qur'an. Even if in the course of a year I only benefit or resonate with one or two contributions, then I would still be very happy for that alone ... so add to that the fact that I'm sure to meet and speak with a lot of wonderful people, then what more could I want from a regular livestream?

The format I have envisioned, subject to possible change of course, is as follows;

1) Opening: 10-20 mins I will share any insight that I myself have had
2) The flour is yours: 40 mins open mic for anyone to join the stream and add a piece of contemplation to our caravan
3) Quick meet and greet: This can be mostly filler if no one has anything to contribute. 10-15 mins or up finishing time. Just a chance for me to try to get to know you, and for you to get to know me.

Generally, meaning throughout the year, the stream will be on a Saturday or possibly a Sunday. It will, however, always be scheduled in advance by at least 3 hours or so, but preferably a whole day beforehand. Hit that bell and watch out for the notifications, or check in regularly.

We will try to shoot for a total time of one hour, though it will likely be less at the start. I expect it will take a while for this stream to "take off" and attract people who be willing to share their thoughts and insights into the Qur'an. Then ultimately and hopefully (the real purpose here) it will start to be a cause and encouragement for many others to start contemplating the Qur'an themselves, and then come and share what they in turn have gleamed and learnt ... and so the cycle continues and grows and repeats itself .... inshallah

The more viewers who take an active role in spreading and promoting this stream, or coming on and sharing something, then the more people we can attract who can share their own wonderful insights. I am positive that there are many out there. We just have to reach them.

Please pray that this effort turns out to be fruitful in helping to connect people with the Qur'an and see that the Book of God's words, like the Book of His works, is open for them and that it is theirs for them to contemplate.

Thank you

واللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَٰفِظًا ۖ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

Peace bro, may I ask you why you stopped translating Hassan's videos?
It was amazing! But I am sure you have your reasons..
What I thought is that you and Ziryab Jamal could partner up and translate them together, to me, it looks like a nice idea..

How would you interpret this part of 74:31?

مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَا مَثَلًا كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ

Sam Gerrans has a video that demonstrates his argument for why he translates “salah” as “duty”. It appears to be a cogent argument. If you’ve watched the video, what do you think about it?

13:14 how the quraysh wanted the quran to be from an upper class man, reminds me of how people worship the state instead of god

Thanks a lot!

Bro, we live in a difficult time, there is a lot of injustice and cruelty. Sometimes I want to get away from all this cruelty and rest spiritually. when i take the Quran and get to description of hell, which is very much in the Quran, then instead of rest, it turns out the opposite...stress on the nervous system. for example:

those who will stay in the Fire forever, left to drink boiling water that will tear apart their insides (47:15)

ripping off scalps (70:16)

melting whatever is in their bellies, along with their skin.(22:20)

it's like a horror movie..
why do you think Allah gives such rude and cruel examples of punishments? even if children read it, they will be afraid of it and have stress

Qur'aniyoon Zandaqa,
First of all,
How do you interpret what the Qur'an says ?
Whose Interpretation do you accept, is there any authority in your religion ?
One group of you say "Sijdah is Physical"
Other group of you say "Sijdah is Spiritual"

One group of you say "Qur'an supports Reincarnation"
Other group of you say "Qur'an does not support Reincarnation"

One group of you say "Surah At Tawbah has added verses"
Other group of you say "Surah At Tawbah does not have added verses"

One group of you say "Rashad Khalifa is a Prophet of Allah"
Other group of you say "Rashad Khalifa is not a Prophet of Allah"

And many others, Again, What and Whose interpretation of Qur'an and Shari'ah do you agree upon ? Since you reject Fiqh and Sunnah as well
For the Ahl As Sunnah, at least they have 'Ijmaa which is the Consensus and also the majority view among their Ulamah and also the Salaf which is highly valued above all other minority opinions, thus at least they can agree upon and reach to a conclusion about an issue but what about you people ?

Secondly,
Why do you use Arabic Lexicons to describe and interpret the words in Qur'an, whereas those Lexicons use Ahadith and Poetry to describe the deep meaning of the words, the things which you reject ?

Thirdly,
How do you interpret this ?
O you who have believed, prescribed for you is legal retribution for those murdered – the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the wife for the wife . But whoever overlooks from his brother anything, then there should be a suitable follow-up and payment to him with good conduct. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. But whoever transgresses after that will have a painful punishment.
Qur’an 2:178

How do you interpret this ? Is it that if A kills B's wife, will A's wife get killed in return ?
and If A kills B's slave, Would A's slave get killed in return ?
Or is it
If A's wife kills B's wife, Will B's wife get killed in return ?
and If A's slave kill B's slave, Will A's slave get killed in return ?
Again how do you interpret it ? And What makes you interpretation correct and other's wrong, what's the basis ?

Face it you are Unknowingly one of us Murtaddeen, Quranists are also considered Apsotates
You just can't face Reality
