It’s an exciting time in Oakland Park. We used to be Broward’s best-kept secret. Now, the secret’s getting out. The city is gearing up for its centennial in 2029 by investing millions in new facilities, infrastructure, neighborhood amenities, landscaping, roadways, and streetscapes. Strategic partnerships are creating retail, employment, and residential opportunities to support a thriving community big on small-town charm.

With four groundbreakings and two ribbon cuttings in the past year alone, Oakland Park’s transformation is kicking into high gear. From City Park and North Andrews Gardens Community Center to Fire Station 9 and a new Public Works Complex, the exciting citywide transformation is delivering modern amenities that will enhance the quality of life and support economic growth while preserving Oakland Park’s hometown charm.

This video is ABSOLUTELY well done. It’s thorough in information and visuals to match. I’m so EXCITED to be a “ground zero, ” resident of Oakland Park and experience our growth. We are on the map! This will be one of the most desired communities to live, retire or raise children.

I really love the vision for Oakland Park. I also love that underserved communities have been considered in the development plans. Excited to see it all come together.

My wife, daughter and I just bought a house in Oak Tree. Absolutely beautiful neighborhood. I really look forward to the changes and growth of Oakland Park. I know there will be growing pains and we have to be patient, "Rome wasn't built in a night" but I also hope they figure out how to clean up the crime in the area. Broward sherif helicopters fly around our surrounding areas every single day, no exaggeration.

I bought a condo here in 1994 and I love it here and am looking forward to the future. My fear is that Broward County is no longer affordable. If I were just moving here today, I would not be able to afford to rent or purchase anything in South Florida.

I love this progress for my City. I hope there will be new affordable housing units as well. We have to keep all residents in mind.

And destroying how the current residents travel (insane amounts of traffic and roadwork), increased rent prices (mine personally went up $200 where I now pay $1800/month for a 400 sf 1 bedroom apartment), and just pushing out the hard working single families in your attempt to what, gentrify? Cater to the rich and have no regard for the middle class? I used to love Oakland park, I live close to Funky Buddha, my drive to work, my kids school and anywhere else I need (grocery, pharmacy etc.) is all within a mile, but now, there is constant roadwork creating extra traffic making any drive awful and arduous. The prices continue to rise and I’m a married mother of two who works 70 hours a week and my husband and I can barely keep up. This whole thing sucks and I’ll only stay in this city as long as I absolutely have to.

Driving out long-term residents with increased taxes and insurance rates.

This investment and "upgrade" to the city only benefits tourist and upper middle class I've lived here all my life and these upgrades hurt the local residents who have been here all there lives. With rent and property tax increasing it's hurting your everyday hard working family!!!! If it was hard to stay afloat before it's impossible now
