I've faithfully seen the Basie bands after the Count died, and loved the music, but... the man at the piano, Basie, set the tempo and style along with Freddie Green and in this case, a drummer like Butch Miles. This song is "Prime Time" and is a classic because it took decades of experience to record this song in a couple of takes. I heard Basie live first in Carnegie Hall in the early 1970s and probably bought plenty of his albums from Pablo from then until he passed away in the 1980s. This band had the rhythm of 20th Century America, driving, optimistic, pushing forward into the future. Thank you so much for posting.
