All I know about snails is you should wet your hands first before handling so u don’t damage their skin. So cute!

I live in SA and currently got a achatina achatina commonly known as the giant Tiger African land snail and I really love 'her'

They need enough soil(I use cocofiber) so that they can fully bury themselves. And you shouldn't have any thing hard, like pot water bowls ect. Because if they fall they can crack their shells. They also need to be fed a protein source once/twice a week(i use fish flakes) aswell as the cuttlefish being availble to them 24/7. Love your videos and your Gals are cute x

Oh and there are different species of Giant african land snails which all have different living conditions such as humidity and heat. If you are thinking about getting them as a pet please do your research

We recently had 2 Africa land snails given to us by a pet shop owner as we spent lots on tree frogs and bits and bobs for our other pets. One of ours is an albino. They are so beautiful 😍 my children are inlove with them, they aren't quite as large as yours yet ❤

Hey, first of all, im sorry for grammatical faults but im from Germany. Anyway, I hope I can help a bit.

1: Yes, African landsnailes are the biggest landsnailes you can find. (But there are some bigger snailes which live in the water. (Syrinx aruanus)
But there is not "the african landsnail breed" there are many different african landsnail breeds (Achatina Fulica, Achatina Achatina…) These breeds have some differences. (Different needs, different body sizes, different amount and size of eggs etc.) Your snail looks like an albino "lisachatina reticulata"

2: These snails can eat almost every vegetable and fruit except very sour, spicy or salty things because it would damage their skin. They also need a calcium source. If they dont get enough of it, the shell will not grow and they will not produce many eggs. In the worst case they will loose their shell and die after it. You can give the snails calcium in form of cuttlefish. You should also put some crushed cuttlefish into the soil because snails absorb it over the skin. Your snails seem to prefer sitting at the glass which is a sign of a not optimal soil quality.

3: "Snails are not very social" is a big fault. Snails like to interact with each other and in Germany its not recommended to only have one african landnail. If you have about 4 snails you will see that they like to sit, "walk/slime", eat… near to each other. If you are holding only one snail because of the fear that they will reproduce (and they will!) you are egoistic and a snail is not the perfect pet for you. Even if they are small and silent, they have their needs.

4: Yeah these snails will reproduce very fast. Its not allowed to release the eggs or babysnails into the wild. What you can do is freezing the eggs after founding them or selling/spending them as animal food for snakes, fish etc. Its not a nice feeling but its better than having thousands of snails, with broken shells in a tiny tank. Freezing the eggs is probably the best solution.

If there are more questions, im willing to help. Greetings from the German potato xD

I always thought snails and slugs were the coolest thing when I was younger 😂 I would keep little slugs I found in a puzzle box

*also, I forgot to mention Emzotic as a really good resource for information about snails!

I dont have a snail but when u hold a snail, u should wash ur hand and keep it moist or the better option is to put a big piece of lettuce in ur hand and then put them in ur hand

Awesome snails, so cool to see something a little different once in a while.

As for names, I reckon Pesto, Mayo & Polo

Hi I have a question. Is it true that they carry deadly for human desises? Or is that only for the wild ones

Snails dont acually need a water bowl, babies and smaller species can drown in them. as long as you mist the enclosure it is fine. Also i would suggest you dont just use dirt from outside or from the garden centre. I use coco coir, you can get it in pet centres and amazon. Dirt from outside can have pests

And they’re probably achatina fulica ‘white jade’ although they have very light shells but that could be due to wear xx
