“Creepy” Mysteries of King Tut of Egypt

In November 1922, British archaeologist Howard Carter unearthed one of the most spectacular finds in the history of archaeology. The tomb of King Tutankhamun was packed full of treasure – a solid gold coffin and funeral mask, jewels, statues, even a chariot. In all, some 5,000 objects were uncovered. It took Carter and his team 10 years to catalog the trove. All this from the tomb of a relatively minor pharaoh who died before he hit his twenties.

Rumors of curses swirled. One of Carter’s team succumbed to an infected mosquito bite shortly after the tomb was opened. Several others also kicked the bucket after trips to the young pharaoh’s tomb. Were these deaths the result of some ancient curse?

Welcome back to Nutty History. While the curse of King Tut’s tomb may have just been overblown media hype, there are definitely some strange mysteries you might not have known about the famous pharaoh – mysteries that point to a great shake-up in Egyptian society.

I’m so grateful the grave diggers never found his grave. Such interesting things they found out from this dude

Tutankhamen and his sister wife were unable to have children. They had two still borns. So the priests had him buried that way in hopes he would have children in the afterlife. But many pharaohs were buried that way.

Nefertiti is not Tutankhamen’s mother, and DNA testing did reveal that his biological mother was indeed found inside the secret room located off of the main burial chamber for the tomb of Amenhotep II. Tut’s biological mother was also his father, Akhenaten’s sister. The problem is that Akhenaten had quite a few sisters so the one who produced Tutankhamen is unknown but she is referred to as The Younger Lady; inside the secret room were her remains, along with Tiye (Akhenaten’s mother) and an unknown young boy. The secret room doesn’t appear to have been designed for them, and Egyptologists believe they were moved to that location long after Tutankhamen was buried. But to be clear, Tutankhamen was the direct product of a brother/sister relationship. Nefertiti only had daughters.

He must have been in a major amount of pain.

I saw a documentary years ago that leaned heavily on the theory of the chariot accident. The recreations and simulations they did appeared to confirm it.

The one that died of the bug bit was Lord Carnarvon, the man that hired Carter not a member of the team. It is also his home that is used as Downtown Abbey in the TV series

It really bothers me that archaeologists dig up ancient sites. Then over the years they lose the finds, they get put into museum basements and misidentified, miscategorised and every other permutation of that. While I appreciate all the scientific efforts, I do not appreciate the careless handling post excavation. The teams of archaeologists will blame lack of funding, human error etc. etc. maybe even corruption. That said how do you lose King Tuts penis? Something is really wrong in archaeology

Damn they milked the hell out of cataloging that tomb. They must have logged one item a day at that rate.

Tutankhamun inherited a weakened Egypt and due difficulty walking he may have used chariots as often as he could. He may have not be very good as a Chariot driver but how do you tell a living god that that you suck at chariot driving. It may have been politically necessary for king Tut to lead his armies and he may have been killed doing so. The letters of Ankhesenamun give the reasons she feared for her life after Tutankhamun death.

The stuff they are claiming as odd were the norm. Never expect perfect research on a video like this but some would have been nice

I was expecting some absurd clickbait bullshit. Usually that's what these smaller channels with similar titles are. Pleasantly surprised to watch a good video.

I believe he was assassinated or mortally sabotaged by the priests that wanted Egypt to have nothing to do with Akhenaten.

This video failed to mention how king tut’s DNA was very very intense way more than a normal human. He also had a dagger and jewelry made from space rock and other unknown materials

It would seem that many strange things used to happen in those far off days. From this video we learn that when King Tut was placed in the stone sarcophagus, it was found that his coffin's toes were too big, so the coffin's toes had to be cut off. Who would have imagined that in those days, coffins had toes ? What an unusual world they lived in !

He was assassinated or suffered an injury in one of his possible military expeditions, to die with an erection he must have been caught getting it on with someone’s wife or significant other.
