Thanks for this video Doctors. I will be having 24 staples removed six days from now, and watching your video, as well as hearing your comments, has relieved me of my concerns.

I had a double knee replacement at the same time. When I was in rehab at the hospital there was a group of student nurses that came every day. The day I was to get my staples out I was nervous but then came each of the students and their supervisor let each one take one out. I was sidetracked by how worried they are. It doesn't hurt except sometimes when the end comes out it burns a little. The person removing on the video was too rough. My nurses were so kind and gentle.

I've had staples removed after 2 knees, and 1 hip replacement, and had no discomfort at all. It does feel better once they're gone and you feel as though you're REALLY on the road to recovery now! ~~M~~

It was a little pinchy with the odd staple but it does feel so much better when they’re all out! Another great video Docs! (Yes I’m a subscriber.)

I have had staples in my scalp, and staples for both knee replacements. They hurt coming out a GREAT DEAL! Enough to make me weep. Blanket reassurances should not be made, and if a patient says this hurt last time, I would like a topical anesthetic of some sort, listen.

SO glad my doc didn’t use staples. I asked about it and he said we have much better ways to close now with less scarring. He was right!

Had my staples removed today-, very easy, no pain- easy peasy. Had a great chat with Dr. Weening with my list of questions, all answered thoroughly and with a sense of humour. Fantastic recovery and enjoying the physio appointments at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital - super staff and excellent equipment.
I was talk with my buddy in Florida and he asked how do they remove the staples and I said I don't know but when I asked Dr. Weening, he said we have a video the subject.

Had Ankle surgery. Removing staples was “very” uncomfortable but I was so glad to have them out. A lot less pain once staples were removed.

I'm a wimp when it comes to surgical procedures but when it came time to remove the staples after total knee replacement it was incredibly easy. I was intrigued by the way the tool bent the staple in such a way to remove it from the skin.

My daughter is a Surgical Tech and loves taking part in surgical procedures.

Had staples with c-section, open heart surgery & BTKR & was pleasantly surprised how easy it was. Least painful part of the surgical procedure!

I am having staples removed on Monday. First time I've ever had surgery. I'm extremely nervous. This helped so much. Thank you!

I had staples in my first knee replacement. Didn't hurt at all. A couple were a bit more difficult to extract but not painfully so. Tho I did have one staple that was very buried & I had to call back my nurse to remove that one a few days later but no pain. Remember to count how many there are!!
I have asked medical staff why the amount of staples used is not included as part of the discharge letter? At least then the person removing them knows exactly how many there should be for removal & doesn't accidentally miss any if they happen to become buried.
My second knee replacement had sutures & then glued. I think I prefer staples. The glued wound seems to be more 'proud' above the incision than the wound that was stapled.
Excellent video as usual xx

When I had surgery, I offered to bring my office staple remover to save the insurance company money! Thank goodness my surgeon had a great sense of humor. It wasn’t too bad as long as I didn’t look. I’m a subscriber and love your videos. Blessings…

Interesting to see different surgeons preferences. In the US we see staples, sutures or glue after Total Knees Replacements.

I had staples from both total knee replacements. I was nervous about their removal, but was very pleasantly surprised. No pain at all except for one very minor sting on one of them. Much better than sutures. Wednesday, I get removed whatever they used on my total hip replacement 11 days ago. I hope it is staples.

I had them taken out two weeks after my hip replacement surgery. It was easy and quick. Wasn't bad at all even thou, they may look kind of weird a bit.
