This book was surprisingly Sinister but a whole lot of fun for a kid's novel, I think it would make an amazing live action film. The holiday house was next level and especially the secrets that it held!

Neil Gaiman swears he didnt read this until after he released Coraline, which frankly I have a hard time believing. Glad im not the only one!

Baron, you say Neil Gaiman and Clive Barker were friends for a long time, maybe it’s just me,
but I’ve never heard Neil Gaiman talk about Clive Barker in any interviews.😳🤷🏻‍♀️

Read it at the suggestion of my dad when I was in 5th grade. Still read it from time to time. Love this book.

Awesome review Baron! This book is such a classic and one of my favorites of its kind! I absolutely love his illustrations throughout the book too, probably one of my favorite physical books to look at

The artistry of his in this amazing book I fell in love with it also but the drawing had me tossing my memories back to Stephen Gammell, illustrations in scary stories. Both unique artist

Baron, I read this book several years ago and loved it! I was just thinking about it not too long ago and am so happy you did this review on it!

Something about this book reminds me of the original children's Peter Pan book by J.M. Barrie (also a childhood horror dependent on the kid's reading level. Some 3rd graders can read either book easily!)

Both stories have a similar arc, but Peter Pan has a much darker twist actually. You'll shake in your boots.

Great review Baron. You’ve definitely sold me on this book. The comparison to Gaiman is where you hooked me.

Ahhh I love that you reviewed this book! It definitely deserves to be on modern readers' radar. I had an amazing 6th grade teacher that recommended this to me and it really sparked my interest in books. Great video 👍🏾

I binge read this last weekend after finishing The Damnation Game and I was curious about his fantasy writing. So I tried it out since it was a short read, but I can’t believe I never read it while growing up, because it’s exactly what I was into reading.
