'Bed' | A Visual Poem by Sam Thompson

"Bed" is a poem that I wrote over a year ago now, towards the beginning of the pandemic, about the mix of feelings felt of being trapped inside my bedroom, staying inside for safety and being thankful for that relative safety inside my room but feeling it wearing down on me over time. Today, over a year later, now having completed my two rounds of vaccination, I wanted to release this as a way of capturing those feelings, and now reflecting on it, looking back on my worries and fears and my attempts to hold strength to go on, and seeing myself today still luckily standing strong and tall as I hoped I would be when I wrote this poem.
