'THAT WAS CRAZY!' | Fabio's First eVTOL Test Drive

In this episode new Airspeeder pilot Fabio Tischler - A.K.A. @fabreezy_ - swaps simulator training for his first taste of controlling a full-scale Speeder eVTOL race vehicle in a real-life flight test.

Learning the remote handling of an Alauda Mk3C craft begins with take-off, hovering and practicing basic manoeuvres in Line of Sight before faster and more complex drills. Fabio’s background in First Person View (FPV) with smaller performance drones makes stepping up to a 4-metre long performance octocopter with the power-to-weight of an F-16 fighter jet a challenge.

That said, Fabio’s first test flight was successful and under guidance from Airspeeder’s Chief Remote Pilot his confidence will build further. However, like all Airspeeder pilots, Fabio must master and build upon these fundamentals as the first of three EXA Series Grand Prix in 2022 is just on the horizon. Training will intensify over the coming weeks pushing their skills and mettle to the limit. All pilots will need to be on their game to prove themselves to be fit to call themselves the first EXA Series circuit race winner. The competition amongst Airspeeder’s race pilots can only heat up: there can only be one 2022 Champion.

Close but safe air racing is assured through latest LiDAR and radar technologies that create virtual forcefields around the sport’s cutting edge quadcopter format flying cars. Rapid hair-pin turning manoeuvrability is delivered using a multicopter layout. This pioneering approach to aircraft design also enhances stability while electronic speed control (ESC) systems empower pilots to exploit the full potential of our advanced electric powertrains.

I like the energy you show, so don't take this the wrong way... What you have shown here is a drone that hovers. Yeah, it's a big drone, but what exactly is "crazy" about this?
