I see In this video that you are moving the material up towards the top of the piece before thinning out that cylindrical section. Do you hear when the material is right or is it more feel?

Uhhh yeah, compound is easier than a chest tool, anyone who does it that way for a living is insane. Ive tried it, chatter fest, hate it. Im a specialist on hydraulic lathes, heavy stuff, not no more. I hate spinning with a passion.
