death angels have an advanced level of sonar detection basically ships when they ping loud noises to see other ships on a map, when you make a noise the death angles can literally see where the noise is, the worst thing to do is stand still, in this scene he rips his shirt then proceeds to stand still and make as less noise as possible which makes no difference as they already know you are there, the best thing to do is to move away a quick as possible away from the sound and make a distraction
