Thanks for reminding people to check a map (Google maps). I live outside Boston and almost every time I go into Boston, I find someone trying to use the T diagram. It's *not* to scale and confuses beginning transit users. However, it is a much simpler system than London or Tokyo.

The T is the oldest subway system in the US. Unfortunately it was underfunded and neglected for a few decades. They are currently making a significant effort to improve the system and it’s getting much, much better. Though, due to this, service can be unpredictable and a PITA due to lines and stations being closed due to breakdowns or for maintenance and upgrades.

The good news is that Boston proper and Cambridge are highly walkable. If you run into a problem on the T, walking to the next open station, or even your destination, is fairly easy. Boston is pretty safe and clean, so don’t be afraid or intimidated by walking the city.
