Andrea Tenner is professor of molecular biology & biochemistry and of neurobiology & behavior in the Francisco J. Ayala School of Biological Sciences, and professor of pathology in the School of Medicine. A major focus of her laboratory is on the fundamental processes with which the immune response and subsequent inflammation influence the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. She previously served as the director of UCI MIND and as equity advisor and later as associate dean for research in the Ayala School. In 2006, Tenner received the Faculty Mentorship Award from the UCI Emeriti Association. Among her many accolades, Tenner is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and was honored with the Daniel G. Aldrich Jr. Distinguished University Service Award in 2015. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Dallas and a Ph.D. in biological sciences from UC San Diego.
