Kyosho Turbo Scorpion Transmission Trouble
In the recent run of the Turbo Scorpion, I found when cleaning it up there was trouble in paradise! The shaft the idler/counter gear rides on was coming loose and could have really caused a lot of damage if it had. I did not notice anything really when driving and it was not util I was done recording the other video I found the gear case was loose and after further inspection found things were almost really bad. Thankfully I caught it before any catastrophic damage could be done! Just check your cars before and after your runs to looks for any sign of breakage or excessive wear as it can prevent even further damage from happening!
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.

Good catch, Definitely stuff that pops up on pre-built stuff. 👍

Thank you for that essential tip Addam. It's a minor issue which can cause major damage. I'll check my Turbo soon😎

Hi there Addam, excellent tip and just goes to show that you still need to check factory assembled parts. Take care and best wishes to tip you and the family 😉😊😉

I had the exact same problem with a Traxxas I had last year fixed it exactly the same way as you did. Great tip and nice video

Thanks for the heads up! 👍 Thus far I’ve not had issues with the pre built gearboxes in my Kyosho buggies, but like anything there is a potential for something to be missed at the factory.

I did, regrettably find that my Turbo Scorpion mistakenly came with the roll bars from the regular Scorpion (so not light bucket fixing points). But overall I’ve been very pleased with the KYOSHO kit quality. 👍

Great info and heads up, Addam, thanks for sharing, I'll definitely be checking my Scorpion gears after the first run! Good news that yours has no damage done, just shows how important it is to check our cars regularly. Cheers!

Great advice! Happy you spotted yours early so no further harm was done.
I'll be putting one together with similar transmission soon, it's a good reminder to have an extra look at it before assembling everything else.
Thanks for letting us know!

Great info Addam. I just checked mine and it's ok. I had a different problem with the pre assembled diff which I will explain when I get round to doing the build vid. I wish that they wouldn't try to be helpful with the pre-assembled bits and just let us build these things properly. Best wishes mate 🙂

Yes it happens! On my first Ultima (40 years ago) the same! They don't say in instructions.

Hey Addam, great consumer advice there fella and glad you didn’t lose anything. I think it is good practice to check everything over after each run while cleaning and tightening everything up. It is not always possible but you never want something to go unnoticed. Imagine if you hadn’t spotted this on the clean up of those wheels! Thanks for sharing brother 👍🏻🙌🏻

Threadlock!!! (that’s me screaming and running away lol) That’s crazy but yeah must be a QC issue. Car looks great though! Hopefully that fixes the issue!

Well, didn't that exact thing happen today on my Javelin I finished building today. It wasn't until I realised the problem, that it reminded me of a video I had seen, which was yours. I checked the instructions and it does not mention applying threadlock when assembling that post. It is threadlocked now!!

Literally just built this kit and while out running a minute ago had the exact same thing happen. Going to throw a little thread lock on that sucker so it stays tight from here on out. Put a Castle 3700kv sensored motor I had extra laying around. Stupid fast, and a little too fast for a car like this. Pulls wheelies easily. Will be perfect for the beach with some paddle tires on it.

I’ll check it out . Thanks Addam. How long did you run it before it wobbled off? 👍
