In the latest instance, a regional official In Khabarovsk region was sacked due to issues in recruitment of new conscripts. Six newly mobilised Russian soldiers have reportedly died since the start of Putin’s mobilisation drive for the war in Ukraine. On September 30, Putin reprimanded Russian officials for “mistakes” in carrying out his “partial” mobilisation. Russia’s retreat from the Ukranian city of Lyman has elicited an outcry from state media, which typically casts Moscow’s war in glowing terms.
