In this video, I talk about the most important things you need to know when switching to keyboard and mouse. This includes the best and most optimal keybinds for mouse and keyboard, the best settings for PC, and the fastest way to improve (best practice routine). As you guys know, Christmas was yesterday and the holiday season is upon is. This means tons of you guys are going to be switching to mouse and keyboard on PC from controller on console. That also means you guys are going to have a ton of questions regarding keybinds, settings, and how to improve. That's where I come in to help and make your transition from console to PC (controller to keyboard and mouse) as easy and seemless as possible. I cover the rules and guidelines to follow for new optimal keybinds, I give the keybinds I would use if I started on mouse and keyboard today, then I cover the two most important setting options for new mouse and keyboard players (confirm edit on release and sprint by default), and finally, talk about the best warm up and practice routine for Fortnite Chapter 2. So, if you've just made the switch over to PC from console or from controller to keyboard and mouse, then this video will definitely help you out. On top of that, this video will help you improve, make you a better player, and help you win more in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season One.

I agree much with picking your own key binds. I didn’t pick my own at first and I sucked but when I put keys that worked for me and now I’m much better! Great vid!

I'm a big RPG/MMO player, and I own one of those mice with 12 buttons on the side, and I wanted to add - if you have one of these mice, use them. With my Corsair Schimitar mouse, I have weapons 1, 2, 3 set, wall, ramp, floor, and cone, both heal spots, crouch, edit, traps, all on my mouse. I use F to pickaxe, and E to interact.

I'm used to using all of these buttons for games like WoW, and couldn't wait to transition into using them in Fortnite, and that being said, I'm comfortable enough to know where each button is, what does what, and actually pressing them is in my mind, a lot faster than keybinding to keys. Yeah... these mice are typically considered "bulkier" than the other FPS mice, but you get used to it. I rarely ever take my left hand off w, a, s, d, and space bar, if only to open chests and reload (e and r).

I think what a lot of people need to know when transitioning from controller to pc, is that you're going to be trash for a solid two weeks. You're going to lose, and think "If I had my controller I would've won". It's normal. I transitioned from console overwatch to pc overwatch, and for a solid two weeks, I felt like I had to be particularly aware of moving. It wasn't second nature. If you're moving over to keyboard, don't switch back to controller when you die, or get tilted. Stick with it. If you switch back to your controller every time you lose, you're never going to be good on keyboard. Honestly, keyboard has more potential than controller. Not saying controller players aren't good, because they are, just... the skill cap is higher. When I started playing on keyboard Fortnite, I hated it. I couldn't land shots for shit, but because Id be playing with controller friends, they'd land their shots like it was no big deal, due to the aim-assist, meanwhile I'd be looking like I was blind, because all my shots would miss. For a solid month, I would refuse to spray with AR's because I'd land 1 in like 10 shots on moving targets, despite knowing that I personally have really good aim. Fast forward a year, The kills that you net from having good tracking feel so rewarding.

For anyone who is thinking of switch to keyboard and mouse it is DEFINITELY worth it... I’ve played controller since season 2 and I would play almost everyday and I wasn’t getting as good as I wanted to be... but as of March this year I started playing mouse and keyboard and yah it was hard at first but as long as you grind through the times when your cheeks you’ll be fine the progress I’ve made on mouse and keyboard compared to my controller progress is insane

Jerian: Don't put build binds on ring or index fingers.
Also Jerian: *has wall and floor on Q and F*

Very well covered. This will be 100% helpful to any new player or someone who hasn't ever set up correctly. Keep it up, Jerian!

For me I am personally comfortable with my keybinds
Wall: Q
Floor: X
Ramp: F
Pyramid: C
I know I know the keybinds give me a disadvantage in movement but the most important thing for me is my preference and about my confirm edit on release, I don't use it because I have been using normal editing since season 3 and it would be a waste of time for me to change

Just some advice, for me I use my 2 mouse buttons for my ramp and wall and I use my floor with Q. My cone is L-Shift. And Edit is E. You can use your middle mouse-button to pick up and interact and F for ping. I found these to be the easiest optimal keybinds and they work great for me
